Egyptian Healthtech Startup Anees Health Raises Seed Funding

Egyptian healthtech startup Anees Health has closed a seed funding round of undisclosed value as it prepares to expand its integrated home healthcare model across Greater Cairo.

Founded in 2025, the company brings doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacy services, diagnostics and hospital coordination into a single care plan. instead of handling each medical need separately, Anees Health assigns a responsible doctor to oversee the patient's care from the initial assessment through treatment and stabilisation. 

The new funding will support the expansion of its clinical and care coordination teams, strengthen its technology and operational infrastructure, extend its coverage across Greater Cairo and improve coordination with partner hospitals after patients are discharged. 

Tackling the Care Coordination Gap

Anees Health is targeting a problem that becomes more complicated when patients need several healthcare services at the same time.

A patient may have access to a doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, laboratory or pharmacy, but coordinating those services can fall to family members. This becomes particularly difficult for older adults, people living with chronic conditions and patients recovering from illness or surgery.

Anees Health's model puts one team in charge of connecting those services. Its clinical approach centres on geriatric medicine, supported by family medicine and other specialists depending on the patient's needs.

The company also offers programmes focused on rehabilitation, chronic disease management and healthy ageing, with the aim of maintaining physical and cognitive function as patients grow older.

Dr Mahmoud Darwish, co-founder and CEO of Anees Health, said families need more than a provider that simply arranges a medical appointment.

The company wants to take responsibility for the wider care process, bringing different services together under one plan rather than leaving relatives to manage appointments, referrals and follow-ups themselves. 

Technology Built Around One Patient Record

Technology is another part of the company's approach.

Anees Health has developed its own electronic health record using the HL7 FHIR standard, allowing information to be shared across the different professionals involved in a patient's care. The system supports Arabic and English documentation, which is particularly relevant for families managing healthcare for relatives in Egypt from abroad. 

The company says it has already delivered more than 1,000 medical and care services since launching. Around 70% of its patients continue into extended care plans after their first visit, according to the startup. It has also provided care to patients connected to countries across four continents.

Anees Health currently operates across parts of Greater Cairo, including New Cairo, the Fifth Settlement, Maadi, Heliopolis and Zamalek. Its website lists more than 20 healthcare partners and 24/7 care coordination.

An Expanding Market for Elder Care

The startup's focus comes as Egypt's older population grows. Data from Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics shows that the number of people aged 60 and above reached about 9.8 million in 2025, representing 9.1% of the country's population, compared with about 9.3 million in 2024.

That demographic change is creating a larger need for healthcare models that can support patients beyond individual consultations.

Anees Health is positioning its service around that longer relationship, particularly where patients require multiple forms of care over an extended period.

Dr Ahmed Oraby, co-founder and chief strategy and growth officer, said the company's model considers medication, movement, nutrition and cognitive health as connected parts of patient care rather than separate services.

Scaling Beyond 1,000 Services

Entrepreneur Ibrahim Anwar has also joined Anees Health as an adviser. He brings more than 15 years of business development experience and has co-founded six companies, including one that reached an exit. 

The startup plans to use the new capital to increase its geriatric and care coordination teams while expanding its clinical infrastructure and hospital partnerships. Anees Health is targeting the capacity to handle more than 20,000 visits in 2027.  The challenge will be expanding a model that depends on medical professionals and continuous patient follow-up while maintaining the same level of coordination.
