Bathabile Moreki, founder of The Perfume Co Africa (TPC Africa), has launched TPC Africa Mobile, a South African mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) offering prepaid voice, data and digital payment services through MTN’s network.

The service allows customers to buy mobile bundles through an app without TPC Africa having to build its own telecommunications infrastructure. Bundles start at R1.50, and customers switching to the service can keep their existing mobile numbers through the standard number-porting process.

The app is available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Its services include airtime, mobile data, voice packages, SMS bundles and combination plans.

Linking Mobile Services to Digital Payments

TPC Africa Mobile also offers financial tools through its MyWallet feature. Users can purchase vouchers, pay selected bills and buy electricity through the app. They can also manage linked phone numbers and SIM details from the platform.

By combining mobile connectivity with payment services, TPC Africa is targeting consumers who want to manage everyday transactions through one digital platform. The offering also creates a potential sales channel for entrepreneurs already connected to the company’s business network.

TPC Africa has more than 300,000 independent business owners across the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Moreki has clarified that this figure represents the company’s entrepreneur network, not existing mobile subscribers or active sales agents.

The company plans to allow qualifying entrepreneurs to earn commissions by selling airtime and data. This could give members of its existing network another product to offer customers while creating a distribution channel for the mobile service.

South Africa First

TPC Africa Mobile’s initial rollout is limited to South Africa. The launch offering excludes eSIM and postpaid services, with the company focusing on prepaid connectivity and the digital tools currently available through its app.

The business plans to assess customer adoption, repeat usage and service performance before committing to further investment. Expansion into other African markets remains a possibility, subject to regulatory approvals, network partnerships and commercial viability.

The launch is currently limited to South Africa, with customers able to buy prepaid voice, data and SMS bundles through the app. TPC Africa Mobile does not yet offer eSIM or postpaid services.
