Google for Startups, the UK-Nigeria Tech Hub and the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation sponsored the programme, which targeted startups seeking investment across sectors including fintech, healthcare, artificial intelligence, logistics, energy, agriculture and education.

AI Matches Startups with Investors

Magna Collective used data covering more than 24,000 Nigerian companies, alongside its proprietary AI tools, to identify potential matches between startups and investors. The system considered each company's funding stage, the size of investment sought and the investor's sector interests.

Investors reviewed and approved the proposed meetings before the event, allowing participants to focus their time on companies that aligned with their investment criteria.

Of the 26 participating startups, more than two-thirds have women in leadership positions. Eleven companies are also alumni of Google programmes, including the Black Founders Fund and the Google AI Fund.

Funding Concentration Remains a Challenge

The event comes as Nigerian startups attract growing investment, although funding remains concentrated among a relatively small number of companies.

Nigerian startups raised $635 million in the first nine months of 2026, more than double the amount recorded during the same period in 2025. However, only 77 startups secured at least $100,000 during the period.

Moove's $250 million deal accounted for almost 40% of the total funding raised, highlighting the influence of large transactions on the overall figures.

For early-stage businesses, securing investor attention remains an important part of raising capital. Magna Collective's approach seeks to address the matching process by connecting founders with investors whose funding capacity and sector interests align with their needs.

Tracking Investment Outcomes

Magna Collective plans to monitor discussions and capital commitments arising from the meetings over the next six months. The organisation intends to publish its findings to show whether the introductions lead to investment and other business outcomes.

It will also release The State of Early-Stage Venture in Nigeria report on November 18, 2026, alongside a live webinar.

The six-month tracking period will provide a clearer picture of how many of the 61 meetings progress beyond introductions to funding commitments and completed investments.
