Nigerian technology company GenusLab Technologies has launched GenusLab Academy, a digital learning platform designed to help African users build technology skills through AI-powered quizzes, competitions and practical training.
Launched on 28 September 2026, the platform currently focuses on interactive quizzes that allow users to test their technology knowledge, earn points, progress through different levels and compete on leaderboards. The idea is to make learning more engaging while giving users a way to measure their progress as they build their skills.
Turning Learning Into Competition
Competition is a key part of how GenusLab wants users to interact with the Academy. Users can take part in daily, weekly and monthly quiz challenges, with rankings based on factors including scores and response speed.
Live quiz episodes have a five-minute time limit, meaning users need to balance speed with accuracy to improve their position on the leaderboard. The platform also has a free demo option, while premium users can participate in live quizzes and compete for rewards.
This approach is aimed at users at different stages of their technology journey, including people who are still exploring which area of technology they want to pursue. To support that progression, the platform has 20 levels, starting with digital foundations and programming basics and moving towards intermediate and advanced technology skills.
From Quizzes to Practical Training
The quiz experience is only the starting point for GenusLab Academy. As the platform develops, the company plans to introduce structured training covering areas such as coding, graphic design, product design, artificial intelligence, cloud technology, robotics and digital marketing.
That expansion is important because testing knowledge through quizzes is different from developing a skill that can be used in a workplace. GenusLab plans to bridge that gap through lessons, assignments and practical projects that allow users to apply what they learn.
The Academy also outlines a longer-term learning model that includes expert-led bootcamps, certificates and career support. This could give users a clearer path from learning basic concepts to developing practical experience they can demonstrate to potential employers or clients.
Building a Wider Tech Community
GenusLab Academy forms part of a wider technology ecosystem being developed by the Abuja-based company, which operates across digital product development, technology education, creative media and marketing.
The company is positioning the Academy for users across Africa and beyond, with competition and community forming an important part of the experience. High-performing users can progress through rankings and gain access to rewards and learning opportunities.
The bigger challenge will be turning that early engagement into sustained learning. A user may enjoy competing in a five-minute quiz, but the real value will come from whether that interest leads to completing courses, building projects and developing skills that can generate career or business opportunities.
