Mimecast, a company focused on advanced email and collaboration security, has introduced Mimecast® Protection for Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive. This follows the launch of Mimecast® Protection for Microsoft Teams last year. These new offerings aim to enhance Mimecast customers’ ability to work securely across various collaboration tools that play a crucial role in the modern workplace.
Even though email security remains a significant entry point for cyber threats into organizations, Mimecast’s upcoming research report titled “State of Email and Collaboration Security 2024” reveals that 70% of IT and cybersecurity professionals see collaboration tools as presenting urgent and new threats. Mimecast’s expanded collaboration security solutions aim to address this concern, providing businesses with effective protection for employees across all communication platforms.
“As businesses continue adjusting to the world of hybrid work, critical platforms like the SharePoint and OneDrive tools are not only driving new opportunities for collaboration, but they’re also creating new threat vectors for bad actors,” said David Mitchell, VP of Product Management. “At Mimecast, we recognize that the shifting cyber landscape is creating an expanded attack surface, and our new collaboration security products extend our best-in-class email protection to these increasingly targeted and often vulnerable tools.”
These expanded capabilities will allow employees to store, share and collaborate on documents securely within the SharePoint and OneDrive platforms. With near real-time scanning of new files and continuous scanning of recently edited files, the Mimecast solutions help keep dangerous content out of IT environments while also defending against zero-day threats.
Mimecast Collaboration Security protects the Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint solutions with a single, easy-to-manage offering. The product is now generally available globally for Email Security Cloud Integrated customers.
