WhatsApp is getting eight new features

WhatsApp is continually changing, with frequent upgrades for iOS, Android, and desktop.

Avatars, call upgrades, and view-once text messages are among the new features that have been handed out to the public or are presently being tested.

The Meta-owned corporation will test its upgrades on beta testers before releasing them to the whole public.

WABetaInfo has a vast network of testers that test the app in beta form and inform users about upcoming upgrades. Furthermore, WABetaInfo publishes news about official upgrades to the popular messenger on a regular basis.

Here are eight features that are presently in development or are in the process of being implemented.

1. Avatars are introduced.

WhatsApp has begun to push out the option to create avatars to people who have downloaded the most recent iOS and Android versions.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will generate an Avatar sticker, allowing participants to use their Avatar as their profile photo.

2. Improved calls

WhatsApp made major improvements to call quality across Android and iOS on December 14th.

The updates will allow 32 individuals to join private group calls, message or mute call participants, give invite links so anyone may join a conversation, use voice waveforms to determine who is talking, and display in-app banners when someone enters the call. Those with iOS 15 or later can also use the Picture in Picture functionality.

3. Profile icons in group chats

According to WABetaInfo, the profile icons of group participants are now displayed in group conversations following a recent 22.24.81 iOS upgrade. Next to the chat box, the profile symbol will show.

Although some iOS users may have detected this feature in the last version, it was only generally sent out earlier this week on Monday, December 12th.

4. New emojis

WhatsApp is presently developing 21 new emoticons for Android users. The new Unicode 15 emojis contain additional animals, meals, heart colours, and instruments.

According to WABetaInfo, a new Android beta release includes eight redesigns for popular emojis, including the sad emoji. It’s unclear when the new emojis will appear in an official update.

5. one-time text messages

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is now working on see once text messages while testing the Android 2.22.25.20 beta.

After the receiver has read a view once text message, it will be removed from the conversation. It is not possible to copy or forward the message, as it is with view once video and image communications. WABetaInfo says that when the functionality is launched, screenshots will most likely be banned, although it cannot guarantee this.

6. A banner for one-time messaging

WABetaInfo testers discovered a feature that displayed a banner informing senders that recipients could not take a screenshot, copy, forward, or store a view once video or image.

This was discovered while testing of the Google Play Beta Program’s 2.22.25.13 version, indicating that the functionality is still in development.

7. Use Windows to message oneself

WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2248.2.0 update testers in the WABetaInfo group observed users may now message themselves on WhatsApp on Windows.

Although the personal chat option was already available on Android and iOS, it was previously unavailable on the desktop. Users will be able to send an end-to-end encrypted communication to all of their linked devices using the new capability.

8. React to messages in an announcement group

WABetaInfo stated that the ability to respond to announcement messages is in the works.

The option to respond to announcement messages is presently absent, but it will almost certainly be added in a future Android beta release.
