WhatsApp is getting a significant photo and video sharing update

WhatsApp will more than triple the existing limit for the amount of media assets users may share in a single message.

According to WABetaInfo, the most recent Android beta update of the popular chat app allows some users to share up to 100 movies, photos, or other files at once.

Currently, WhatsApp users who are using the stable or official versions of the programme may only share up to 30 things at a time, a limitation that was implemented in January 2017.

Previously, WhatsApp users could only share ten media items at a time.

WhatsApp usually tests a feature in its beta applications for a few weeks or months before making it available in the main versions.

The capability might be quite handy for friends and family members who frequently have to send many WhatsApp messages to exchange large volumes of media from memorable events such as holidays.

WABetaInfo has revealed that WhatsApp is developing a feature that would enable users to exchange photographs in their original resolution.

If it makes its way to the official app, it might be highly popular with people who want to show off detailed high-resolution photographs obtained with the latest high-end smartphones with great cameras.

The platform aggressively compresses material, making it faster to transfer but reducing picture or video clarity at the same time.

WhatsApp users may select “best quality,” “automatic,” or “data saver” compression, but they cannot send in original quality.

One workaround is to transmit photographs or videos as “Documents” after selecting the paperclip attachment button rather than the “Camera” or “Gallery” choices.

However, unlike conventional photographs and videos, anything shared this manner does not provide a preview and cannot be swiped through.
