Volvo unveiled its new most compact electric vehicle EX30 in Milan. The new EX30 shares a similar nomenclature with the EX90. Volvo South Africa revealed the details surrounding the new electric vehicle.
The EX30 takes inspiration from the EX90 in terms of design, showcasing a closed shield grille, digitally-rendered Thor’s Hammer headlights, split taillights arranged in a similar fashion and a dashboard layout.
LOOK AND FEEL
The new electric vehicle is built on Volvo’s modular Sustainable Electric Architecture with dimensions of 4 233 mm in length, 1 836 mm in width, and 1 555 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2 650 mm, making it slightly smaller in terms of dimensions to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQA.
EX30 has a “floating roof” with a bonnet exhibiting a more dramatic slope towards the nose. Inside the EX30 gives a minimalistic aesthetic with cutting-edge technology. The EV provides a 12.3-inch single-screen infotainment system in the centre of the dashboard. stretches across the upper portion of the dash beneath the windshield, a first-of-its-kind innovation in the automotive realm.
PERFORMANCE
Volvo claims that the EX30 will get from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds in 315 kW twin-motor guise while the so-called extended range variant which features a single electric motor offers a claimed electric driving range of 480km.
EX30 Core Single Motor: This entry-level variant accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5,7 seconds. Equipped with a 51 kWh battery, it generates 200 kW of power, 343 N.m of torque, and offers a range of 344 km.
