Takelot, an online retailer, has revealed its big plans for Black Friday 2022, saying it will run its Blue Dot Sale again – but with a twist.

The group stated that for the 2022 Black Friday sale, it will host a live shopping event on Instagram beginning one minute after midnight on Black Friday (25 November 2022).

Takealot told MyBroadband that the live shopping event will be a ‘first come, first served’ affair, with big discounts available on the hour, every hour, for fifteen minutes.

On the final day of the Blue Dot Sale, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, a second live shopping event called Takealot Day will take place.

Takealot’s Black Friday deals will continue as they have in the past for the remainder of the sales period, with the retailer promising discounts on TVs, smart watches, beauty products, appliances, toys, sportswear, and more.

Early Black Friday sales have begun.

South African retailers are returning to the one-day format of previous Black Fridays after two years of Covid-19 and lockdown.

Several big names, however, are fusing the old and the new, running month-long deals in a ‘Black November’ style sale, with even bigger deals expected on the day.

From 2021, Woolworths will follow its Black Friday sales format, unveiling new discounts and deals with each passing week – while Incredible Connection and Hirsch’s have already started the sales craze.

Other brands will launch sales before the 25th, with Vodacom promising up to 75% off in its sale, which begins on November 4th – while others will extend their deals well into December to capitalise on the festive season shopping rush.

Online retailers are also expected to offer a variety of specials on ‘Cyber Monday,’ which will take place on November 28, 2022.
