Security experts brace for new and old cybersecurity threats

Cybersecurity is still facing ongoing threats with scammers and hackers creating a new way to threaten the security of companies and individuals.

Security and risk leaders are still continuing to fight existing threats and coming up with ways to defend against emerging threats.

Artificial Intelligence tools, geopolitical uncertainty and increased cloud complexity have created a leeway to create new cybersecurity threats.

Forrester’s recently published report, Top Cybersecurity Threats in 2023, which explores the top five established and emerging cybersecurity threats organisations will face in 2023.

Brian Wrozek, Forrester principal analyst and lead author of the report wrote, “Cybersecurity threats continue to plague organisations, multiplying like Mogwai in the 1984 hit movie Gremlins (just don’t feed them after midnight). Forrester data shows that almost three-quarters of organisations reported one or more data breaches in the past 12 months.”

Forrester’s report shows the challenges faced by security professionals and urges security teams to stay alert and teach themselves about the old and new emerging threats.

The firm believes there will be a combination of old and new threats in 2023.
