According to NotebookCheck, Samsung intends to use its own chipset in premium Galaxy S devices again next year.

The abrupt change comes amid rumours that Samsung will sell all variations of its next Galaxy S23 series using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU.

The Exynos 2300 processor, which was originally designed for this year’s Galaxy S23, will now be found in mid-range handsets such as the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy Tab S8 FE.

For several years, Samsung produced Galaxy S smartphones with strong Snapdragon processors in South Korea and the United States, while utilising Exynos chips in all other areas.

However, several nations, including South Africa, received the Galaxy S22 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU last year.

According to Samsung South Africa, this was owing to supply chain challenges related by the Covid-19 epidemic.

Although the two chipsets used to compete for supremacy, in recent years, Samsung’s Exynos processors have been beaten by Snapdragon variants.

Qualcomm’s processors have consistently demonstrated superior heat management and energy usage, leading in quicker and longer-lasting performance.

Some would have assumed that Samsung’s move to demote the Exynos 2300 was a clear indication that the company had given up on attempting to equal or improve on Qualcomm’s processors.

However, according to South Korean tech leaker Vampire King, Samsung MX, the company’s mobile division, has already authorised the design of the Exynos 2400, with commercial production set for November 2023.

According to the leaker, Samsung intends to utilise it in the Galaxy S24, which is expected to be released in January or February 2024, based on Samsung’s current release timetable.

The chip will allegedly have the same quad cluster design as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with eight or ten cores, and will be manufactured on Samsung’s 4LPP node.

Samsung is also said to be working on a successor processor for the Galaxy S25, which will be created from the ground up with a new cutting-edge node.

That device is reported to include nine CPU cores and an AMD RDNA 3 GPU that will be quicker than AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors’ iGPU.
