Business Tech Africa launched the Pan African Business Sentiment Index in April 2026 with the view of providing a monthly barometer designed specifically for African entrepreneurs, startups, and business leaders.

The Index combines 15 critical indicators, which includes GDP growth, inflation, currency stability, FDI, startup funding, export performance, corporate earnings, political and social stability, plus various other business critical data, into an individual country rating.

What PABSI delivers, is a single, easy-to-understand score for the entire continent as well as for key individual countries. This rating method has been applied to the past thirteen month period to provide a trend line context. Using a simple and intuitive “weather-style” forecast analogy, PABSI translates complex economic data into a clear, practical outlook:

•       Sunny = Strong, favourable conditions

•       Partly Cloudy = Generally positive

•       Temperate = Okay, but caution advised

•       Cloudy with showers = Uncertain

April – June 2026  ·  Weather call: Cloudy with isolated breaks

This is our first full Quarter review offering which provides a more balanced perspective over a longer period. – We will also be releasing the Q3 review in Early October that will provide a useful quarter-on quarter perspective.
