Lucid Group, Inc. is recalling hundreds of electric vehicles owing to a flaw that might cause its flagship model to lose power while driving.

According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company stated that faulty electrically actuated switches might harm the Lucid Air model years 2022-2023, resulting in the recall of 637 vehicles.

“This may lead to a loss of propulsion without pre-warning and may increase the risk of a crash,” the company said in the filing, which was submitted to the regulatory agency on March 23.

As of the end of last year, the Newark, California-based firm has delivered 4,494 Lucid Air cars.

According to the filing, Lucid’s service centres will free of charge update the car software and replace the defective switches.

It did not reply quickly to a request for comment.
