Japanese Telecom Firms Develop World's First 6G Device, Achieving Record Speeds

A consortium of leading Japanese telecommunications companies has developed the world’s first 6G device, capable of data transmission speeds 20 times faster than 5G. This breakthrough technology can achieve speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) over distances of 100 meters.

The collaboration includes DOCOMO, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation, and Fujitsu, which have been working on sub-terahertz technology since 2021. This innovative technology operates in higher frequency bands between 100 and 300 GHz, presenting unique challenges and necessitating the creation of entirely new wireless devices.
