iPhone maker Apple to release 15-inch MacBook Air in September 2023

United States technology company and computer maker Apple is reportedly set to release its new 15-inch MacBook Air this year.

However, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the previously rumoured 12-inch MacBook with Apple silicon is no longer expected to launch in 2023, reports Apple Insider.

IOL also published that Gurman did not provide any additional details regarding the new MacBook Air, but display analyst Ross Young had claimed in December that the tech giant’s suppliers would begin production of 15.5-inch display panels for the upcoming laptop in the first quarter of this year.

The new Apple MacBook Air is now expected to have a similar or identical design to the latest 13-inch model.

Moreover, it is likely to be available in M2 and M2 Pro chip options, the report said.

Just last month, it was reported that the iPhone maker was developing a 15.5-inch MacBook Air that could launch in the spring of 2023.

Sized between the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, it would be the largest MacBook Air to date and is expected to feature a MagSafe charging port, an upgraded speaker system, and a 1080p camera.

In a similar post, BusinessTech Africa reported that United States-based technology giant Dell is now planning to stop using Chine-made semiconductor chips by 2024.

Business Insider SA reports that Dell will also slash the amount of other made-in-China parts in its products, Nikkei reported Thursday, quoting three sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

According to the report, the American tech company’s move underscores a shifting of supply chains out of China as companies seek to end their reliance on the manufacturing giant as geopolitical relations between Washington and Beijing sour, and as factory operations in China continue to be hit by the country’s Covid-19 policies.

Rated as the world’s third-largest computer maker after Lenovo and Hewlett Packard — Dell has also told suppliers that it plans to cut its use of made-in-China chips that are produced by non-Chinese firms, according to Nikkei.
