Gabon has launched ProxiGab, a digital platform designed to connect small and medium-sized businesses with banks, investors and organisations that provide business support.
The platform is intended to make it easier for entrepreneurs to present their projects, find financing and identify potential business partners. It also aims to improve opportunities for local companies to participate in subcontracting.
Connecting SMEs With Funding
Minister of Commerce, SMEs and Youth Entrepreneurship Zenaba Gninga Chaning officially launched ProxiGab on Friday, October 2, according to media reports.
Developed by the National Agency for Digital and Financial Infrastructure (ANINF), the platform brings together business projects and financing opportunities from banks, investors and other partners.
Entrepreneurs will be able to showcase their projects and connect with organisations that can provide financing, technical support and other business services.
Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation Mark-Alexandre Doumba said the platform will also help strengthen local subcontracting by improving links between businesses and the companies looking for suppliers and services.
ProxiGab Adds to Government Financing Plans
The launch comes as the Gabonese government is expanding support for young entrepreneurs.
In August 2026, the government announced a financing scheme targeting 400 young entrepreneurs, with funding of up to CFA180 million ($307,000). The programme brings together the Gabon Guarantee Company (SGG) and microfinance institution Épargne et Développement du Gabon (EDG).
The guarantee mechanism is intended to make it easier for small businesses to secure financing by reducing the risks faced by lenders.
ProxiGab adds a digital layer to these initiatives by bringing business projects, financing opportunities and support services into one platform. This could make it easier for entrepreneurs to identify suitable funding and for financiers to find projects that match their investment requirements.
Adoption Will Determine Its Impact
Beyond financing, ProxiGab is expected to give entrepreneurs access to mentoring and other business support. The platform was developed following instructions from Commerce Minister Zenaba Gninga Chaning and was first presented to the public on January 23, 2026.
Its success will ultimately depend on how widely entrepreneurs, financial institutions, investors and other business organisations use it.
