In a statement yesterday, the utility announced a slight reduction of power cuts for the next two days from Stage 2 to Stage 1 between 05:00 and 16:00. Thereafter, Stage 3 will continue to be implemented in the evenings from 16:00 until midnight and be suspended between 00:00 and 05:00. As of yesterday, breakdowns stood at 16 356MW (35% of installed capacity), while planned maintenance was at 3023MW (6%). This left Eskom energy availability factor at 59% of installed capacity. Eskom’s EAF has averaged 59% (Figure 1) over the last five weeks, its best level since August last year.
