Kenya's NCBA Group Now a Nedbank  Subsidiary

Nedbank Group’s offer to acquire approximately 66 percent of Kenya’s NCBA Group became unconditional on 19 October after remaining regulatory conditions were met, Nedbank said in a Johannesburg Stock Exchange announcement and NCBA confirmed in its own statement. The transaction, valued at about 13.9 billion rand when structured, will make the Kenyan lender a subsidiary of the South African bank while NCBA retains its brand, Nairobi headquarters, local management and listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Shareholders tendered shares equivalent to 79.9 percent of issued capital; excess applications will be scaled to leave Nedbank with the targeted stake. Settlement is scheduled around 3 November, with trading in NCBA shares suspended from 21 October to reconcile the register. The deal gives Nedbank its first major operating platform in East Africa and is one of the largest cross-border banking transactions on the continent this year. NCBA will consolidate into Nedbank’s results from the fourth quarter of 2026.

New Natural Gas Pipeline Project for Mozambique

Mozambique’s state-owned Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos is in talks with potential investors including South Africa’s Sasol and the ROMPCO pipeline company for a new natural-gas project expected to cost about 250 million US dollars, ENH chief executive Rudencio Morais told Reuters on 19 October. The project would install floating storage and regasification units at Inhassoro and the Port of Beira and build a 140-kilometre pipeline to connect them to the existing ROMPCO system that supplies South Africa.

Morais said the infrastructure is targeted for completion by 2030 or 2031 to align with larger liquefied-natural-gas developments in the Rovuma Basin. New petroleum rules require at least 25 percent of production, including LNG, to serve the domestic market. Mozambique aims to position itself as a regional power hub once the facilities are online. Sasol said it was premature to comment on specific investments while it seeks alternative gas supplies as its own Pande and Temane fields decline.

Major Industrial Property Investment Potential In South Africa
