Woolworths introduces click-and-collect for online purchases – how it works

Woolworths, a major South African retailer, has teamed with logistics provider Pargo to expand its online delivery network and allow consumers to pick up their online shopping at Pargo click-and-collect pick-up sites near them.
According to Woolworths, this agreement would allow consumers to pick their shipments from a convenient location and time, giving them more options when buying online.
The Pargo click-and-collect service will be launched in the Western Cape with over 250 pick-up sites around the province, with plans to roll in in-store collection points before making this service accessible on the Woolies app in the new year, according to Woolworths.
“We realise that some of our customers are not always available to receive parcels delivered to them. Parcel pick-up will bolster our omnichannel value proposition and further provide our customers with convenient delivery options that suit their individual lifestyles. This partnership will now allow us to offer another reliable delivery option to our growing click-and-collect customer base,” said Liz Hillock, Director of Online and Mobile at Woolworths.
“Woolworths Fashion, Beauty and Home customers will now enjoy the convenience and reliability of Pargo click-and-collect with optionality at checkout when browsing their favourite products online. We look forward to working with Woolies in taking their online customer shopping experience to the next level,” added Adam Sack, Pargo Head of Inside Sales and Client Success.
The service will only be offered on the Woolworths website during the test period.
The following is how the Pargo click-and-collect service works:
- Customers can place their orders online and choose a Pargo click-and-collect pick-up point convenient for them.
- When the parcel arrives at the chosen pick-up point, customers will receive an email notification with a five-digit code that they will use to retrieve the parcel, along with their ID.
- Customers have eight days to collect their parcel/s from their chosen pick-up location.
Woolworths’ online delivery services have been a popular choice for South Africans wishing to purchase online, thanks to its extensive selection of food, home goods, fashion, and personal care products that can be delivered quickly and affordably.
The Pargo agreement only adds to the retailer’s customer convenience initiatives, such as same-day delivery and the option to plan deliveries for a certain time window, allowing consumers to obtain their Woolworths items when it is most convenient for them.
Woolworths, for example, has recently expanded its online delivery networks with same-day delivery to regions around South Africa’s coast. The group’s expansion goal is to satisfy holiday season demand and aid clients in avoiding lengthy lines.
Woolworths has announced that it now provides online delivery to seaside communities such as:
- Langebaan
- Simon’s Town
- Mossel Bay
- George
- Knysna
- Plettenberg Bay
- Jeffreys Bay
- Margate
- Richards Bay
Woolies Dash now provides scheduled delivery coverage for smaller vacation destinations further distant from retail outlets, such as:
- Pringle Bay
- Betty’s Bay
- Kleinmond
- Hermanus
- Stanford
- Wilderness
- Sedgefield
- St Francis Bay
- Port Edward
- Southbroom
- Ramsgate
- Port Shepstone
