Takealot, South Africa’s biggest online store, provides a diverse choice of items, including those that can leave a significant dent in your budget.
MyBroadband investigated the most costly things available from retailers in December and discovered that textbooks, watches, drone cameras, and battery backup-inverter combos topped the list.
The most costly item was not a technological device, but a Landolt-Börnstein textbook valued at R416,599.
The textbook — Subvolume C of Landolt-Phase Börnstein’s Diagrams and Physical Properties of Nonequilibrium Alloys — was marked down from R440,318 on the retailer’s website.
Surprisingly, during the same time last year, the textbook was advertised for R375,279 on eBay. It said that the book had been reduced from R416,521.
South Africans may get the book for considerably cheaper on Amazon – $9,967. (R176,505 excl. shipping and import duties).
Takealot has two pre-owned watches for sale: an IWC Big Pilots Big Date Mens’ watch for R360,900 and a Girard Perregaux Sport Classique Foudroyante Automatic watch for R216,900.
Another noteworthy item is an R199,999 Huawei Isitepower-M 5kW Inverter and 15kWh battery pack.
The DJI Zenmuse L1 drone camera, R200,699, an 83-inch LG 4K Smart TV, R159,999, and a THT60 Thermographic camera, R133,102 were the other most costly tech-related goods on Takealot’s website.
