Swedish carmaker, Volvo’s upgrade of the EX60 SUV 2024 edition has been leaked by various automobile publications.

The new Volvo EX60 SUV comes in a full-electric model and it is regarded as the new edition or chapter in XC60’s life.

Autoevolution reports that the EX90 battery-powered mid-size luxury SUV, which is the Swedish automaker’s first dedicated EV, recently made its real-world debut. It is the third-generation replacement to the company’s flagship XC90.

The 2021 Volvo Concept Recharge’s stylish appearance and rumours indicate that the company would debut a completely new nameplate for the top crossover SUV dubbed “Embla,” contributed greatly to the hype before its introduction.

In the end, everything turned out to be wind-blown dust and now the EX90 appears exactly like any other Volvo and car fanatics might mistake it for a minor XC90 update (although perhaps that was the main objective, in the first place).

However, the website reports that was the main desire, in the first place even the new name is really a play on the old one – Volvo wants all its products to be fully electric in 2030.

While it is mentioned that Volvo is yet to release the official EX90 edition, the company is surely in need of success with the SUV, especially in North America.

But the XC60 successor is internationally crucial because it served for years the duty of the brand’s top-selling vehicle.

In addition, the new Volvo EX90 is more than just a large, powerful and luxurious SUV, it also breaks new technological ground for the brand as Chief Executive Jim Rowan explains per IOL.

“The Volvo EX90 is a statement for where we are, and where we are going. It’s fully electric with a range of up to 600 kilometres on a single charge, designed to further raise our safety standards, the first Volvo car to be truly defined by its software and part of a wider ecosystem, connecting to your home and your other devices. The Volvo EX90 is the start of something new for Volvo Cars in many ways.”

Volvo Cars South Africa says the new EX90 is definitely coming to South Africa but the exact timing will be communicated at a later date.
