Having announced that the new Ford Ranger bakkie or pick-up truck will be built in South Africa, the next generation is finally revealed.
The American automaker, Ford, has officially released the car as it went on sale in the South African market this week, December 05.
Apart from the price, Ford has also released a long list of prices for 13 different derivatives during its launch on 5 December 2022.
As things stand, the bakkie will only be available as a double cab, with single-cab variants expected to go on sale early 2023 together with the launch of the new halo-model Raptor.
The pricing list for all 13 double cab derivatives, including VAT, are as follows per a statement from Ford South Africa.

BusinessTech Africa has discovered that each purchase includes a 4-year/120,000km warranty and a 4-year/unlimited kilometre roadside assistance plan.
The first Ford Ranger clients are expected to take ownership of their new cars before the end of the year, and over 4,000 pre-orders have already been recorded per the auto manufacturer.
One of the best 4×4 vehicles in the market, thr Ford Ranger comes with three powertrain options, manual and automatic transmissions and the choice of two or four-wheel drive systems.
“The two base models are powered by a 125kW 2.0L Single Turbo engine, with the option of 4×2 or 4×4 – both featuring a newly developed six-speed manual gearbox,” said Ford per BusinessTech.
“The manufacturer added that the XL series includes four derivatives, all powered by the 125kW 2.0L SiT engine, and is available in either 4×2 or 4×4, with the option of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
“In the higher-specification XLT series, there are four Double Cab models. Customers have the option of the 125kW 2.0L Single Turbo engine and six-speed automatic or the 154kW 2.0L Bi-Turbo with 10-speed automatic transmission – both of which are available in 4×2 and 4×4.”
Looking at features as highlighted outlined by TopAuto, the base models will include vinyl upholstery, climate control, 16-inch steel rims with all-season tyres, an 8-inch driver display, a 10-inch vertical infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four speakers, a multifunction steering wheel, and hill assist, said Ford.
The XL models add to this with 16-inch alloys, cloth seats, and a lockable rear differential.
Ford also noted that every model in Ford’s line-up would enable customers to express their uniqueness by accessorising their vehicles with a growing list of over 200 factory-backed adventure, urban and commercial accessories.
