Netflix has reduced its rates in over 100 countries by up to 60%

Netflix has reduced its fees in over 100 countries or territories, but not in South Africa.

The reductions are being offered in five key regions: Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South America, the Middle East and North Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, and Asia Pacific.

Botswana, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines are among the countries that would profit the most.

South Africa will not see any price increases. The country’s most recent Netflix price increase occurred in October 2021.

According to Ampere Analysis, the most recent price cuts on Netflix’s basic tier in the 100 countries covered vary from 20% to almost 60%.

Netflix’s Standard tier will be reduced by 13-50% in most impacted countries, while the Premium tier will be reduced by 17-43%.

Except in more popular countries like India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Nigeria, Netflix’s mobile plan will be reduced by 25-33% in most regions where it is accessible.

Most countries paying in US dollar

The majority of these nations pay for Netflix in US dollars. Just ten companies with localised pricing will see price reductions.

Because the US dollar fared strongly against other currencies in 2022, Netflix is likely to have gotten significantly more costly for individuals who do not have regional pricing.

It’s also plausible that Netflix has slashed pricing in some regions to mitigate the impact of its impending password-sharing crackdown.

Using different technical measures, the streaming service intends to confine viewers on one account to the same home, while also introducing the possibility to pay for additional members at a reduced fee.

It’s also worth noting that the nations receiving discounts account for more than half of the 190 countries where Netflix is available, but presumably represent a significantly smaller proportion of its 231 million members.

Even in a heavily populated nation like India, Netflix has an estimated 5 million subscribers.

This contrasts to around 74 million customers in the United States and Canada, as well as roughly 70 million in Europe.
