Ford's SuperVan 4 Set to Compete in 101st Pikes Peak Event

Ford is set to compete in the 101st Pikes Peak event with their EV SuperVan, (all-electric SuperVan) which was first introduced at Goodwood in the previous year.

Mark Rushbrook, the global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, believes that the event is the ideal next step for Ford Performance and the SuperVan 4, given their rich and captivating histories that have fascinated racing fans across the globe.

Rushbrook believes that it’s time to test the company’s electric vehicle technology against some of the most impressive performance vehicles in the world on the Pikes Peak mountain.

The all-electric Ford is a far cry from the regular Transit van used for deliveries. Equipped with four electric motors and a 50kWh battery, the SuperVan can generate approximately 1,470kW of power, allowing it to reach 0-100km/h in under two seconds.

The vehicle is also equipped with a Tyre Cleaning Mode that allows for impressive burnouts.

To pilot the SuperVan, Ford has brought on board Romain Dumas a well-known driver in the world of Pikes Peak, having earned four “King of the Mountain” crowns from his nine appearances and holding the record with Volkswagen.

Ford is hoping to capitalize on his skills and experience by bringing him on board to drive the SuperVan and potentially break the current record.

Melissa Eickhoff, the executive director of Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, expressed her excitement about Dumas’ participation and his consistent ability to bring unique and competitive vehicles to the event.

The Pikes Peak event has seen the emergence of unique and exotic vehicles such as the Peugeot 208 T16 and Nio EP9.

Ford is no stranger to Pikes Peak, having never missed any of the meetings which began in 1916 with the Model T completing it in 28 minutes and three seconds.

In the following years, iconic Fords such as the GT500 and the 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR V2 have thrilled fans who have come out to support America’s second-oldest motorsport event.

Ford hopes to make an impact with their latest creation.
