Angolan startup KambaWork has launched a digital platform bringing together employment opportunities, internships, volunteering, scholarships, courses and micro-work opportunities in one place. The platform is designed to help young people navigate a fragmented opportunities market while giving companies and institutions a more structured way to connect with potential candidates. Users can create profiles, upload their CVs and search for opportunities based on categories and locations. Organisations can also create accounts and publish opportunities for potential applicants.

Employment and career opportunities are often shared across social media platforms, messaging groups, company websites and personal networks. Costa said young people often have to search across several platforms and informal networks to find opportunities. This can make it difficult to identify legitimate and current listings, while employers also lack a centralised channel for reaching potential candidates.

Bringing Different Opportunities Together

KambaWork is designed to offer more than traditional job listings. The platform also includes opportunities connected to education, skills development and early work experience. Users can search for internships, scholarships, training courses, volunteering programmes and micro-work opportunities. The company intends to operate nationally rather than focus on one city or province. Its planned coverage extends across Angola, from Cabinda in the north to Cunene in the south.

For employers, educational institutions and other organisations, the platform provides a dedicated channel for publishing opportunities and engaging with potential candidates. This could provide an alternative to relying entirely on social media posts and informal networks to reach job seekers.

Testing the Platform With Early Users

KambaWork has been bootstrapped so far. The company has focused on developing the product and observing how people use it before pursuing larger partnerships or external funding.

The website is currently in an early rollout phase, giving the startup an opportunity to test demand and gather feedback. Around 42 opportunities are currently listed on the platform, while young people have already started creating accounts, uploading CVs and applying for available opportunities.

Costa said the early interaction is helping the company understand what users are looking for. Some people have contacted KambaWork directly while searching for employment, internships and career guidance, while others have already submitted applications through the platform.

Building Demand Before Seeking Investment

KambaWork's immediate priority is to strengthen the platform and demonstrate sustained demand. The company has chosen to develop the business without external investment at this stage, allowing the team to test the product and make changes based on user behaviour.

Larger partnerships and external financing could form part of the company's next stage once it has established stronger evidence of market demand. The next challenge will be growing both sides of the platform. KambaWork needs to attract young people looking for opportunities while increasing the number of companies and institutions publishing them.

With users already registering and dozens of opportunities listed, the startup is now building its case for a centralised digital platform that connects Angolan youth with employment, education and career opportunities.
