Master Power Technologies (MPT) has set a new benchmark for African engineering by becoming the first company on the continent to be certified as an Endorser of the European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres. Issued by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), the certification places MPT in the same league as global names such as Microsoft and confirms that its facilities meet Europe’s strict standards for energy-efficient design.

The endorsement confirms that MPT’s design and build methods meet Europe’s strict rules for energy-efficient data-centre construction. CEO Menno Parsons said the recognition proves that African engineers can operate at the same technical level as their European counterparts. Clients now have clear evidence that MPT delivers facilities built to rigorous global benchmarks.

A Standard Designed for High Energy Demand

Created in 2008, the European Code of Conduct is the EU’s primary framework for reducing the energy intensity of data-centre facilities. It has become the reference point for operators seeking to balance digital growth with responsible energy performance. Bernard Lecanu one of the initiative’s original architects welcomed MPT’s certification, calling it a signal that Africa is ready to take a stronger role in sustainable digital infrastructure.

Direct Benefits for MPT Clients

Companies that partner with MPT gain immediate value. The certification assures them that their facilities use less power, cost less to run, and align with the EU’s sustainability requirements. It also boosts confidence among global partners who want verifiable energy performance from their data-centre suppliers.

Strengthening Africa’s Digital Infrastructure Sector

Africa’s demand for digital capacity continues to rise. MPT’s achievement arrives at a time when the continent needs more efficient and resilient facilities. The company is using its experience to help develop an African Code of Conduct with support from European institutions. The aim is to create a framework shaped by African conditions rather than imported standards.

MPT’s certification does more than validate its engineering. It shows that African firms can shape international standards instead of simply following them. The achievement opens the door to deeper partnerships with European regulators, investors, and technology players. It also gives Africa a stronger voice in the global discussion on energy-efficient data-centre design.
