Axxess has unveiled its new uncapped Home fixed-5G service, with prices beginning at R495 per month. This new offering operates on Vodacom’s network and includes a promotion where customers can purchase a 5G router for R1,499, significantly reduced from its regular price of R4,499.
“Experience true 5G technology delivering speeds of up to 500Mbps, perfect for both business and home use,” Axxess announced.
The Vodacom-powered Home 5G service is available in four subscription tiers, differentiated by their fair usage policy (FUP) data thresholds. Each package offers best-effort speeds that can reach up to 500Mbps, depending on router availability and the capacity of the 5G tower to which the router connects.
- Standard 5G Plan: R495 per month, with an FUP data threshold of 250GB. After this limit is reached, speeds are throttled to 2Mbps.
- Advanced 5G Plan: R695 per month, with an FUP data threshold of 350GB.
- Pro 5G Package: R895 per month, with an FUP data threshold of 550GB before throttling to 2Mbps.
- Pro+ 5G Plan: R995 per month, with an FUP limit of 750GB.
Axxess is also offering a delivery guarantee for the new Home 5G product, promising delivery within three business days. If this deadline is not met, the company will credit the customer’s account with R300.
This launch is notable as Vodacom itself only offers hard-capped fixed-5G products. Previously, Vodacom explained that hard capping its Home 5G products helps maintain high-quality 5G connectivity. High data usage through a single tower in densely populated areas could hinder 5G connectivity since both uncapped 5G products and mobile 5G products share the same infrastructure.
The introduction of uncapped fixed-5G follows Axxess’s recent launch of uncapped fixed-LTE products, also powered by Vodacom.
