MTN South Africa on Friday afternoon March 27, 2020 experienced network problems which were causing calls to mobile phones on its network to fail.
The problems started shortly before 15:00 on Friday and seemed to affect calls from all networks, including MTN itself, to MTN subscribers.
MTN confirmed on Twitter it is currently experiencing a network problem and apologized for the inconvenience caused.
It added that its technicians are working on resolving the problem as soon as possible.
“Apologies for the inconvenience caused, we are currently experiencing a network problem our technicians are working on resolving the problem ASAP,” MTN said.
However, most customers were disappointed that MTN delayed in letting them know about the nature of network problems the telco service provider was experiencing.
“Is it hard for you to inform us about those problems your networks are experiencing? Why should you wait for us to ask?,” one customer wrote in a reply to MTN’s Twitter post.
