At its Unpacked product launch event in San Jose, California, Samsung Electronics provided a sneak peek of its upcoming smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, aiming to intensify its competition in health technology, particularly against Apple.
Although specific details about the Galaxy Ring were not extensively shared, Samsung highlighted its integration with various sensors and compatibility with other devices, such as the newly introduced Galaxy S24 smartphones. While smartwatches have traditionally been the primary health-tracking devices, smart rings have gained popularity, exemplified by brands like Oura Health.
Samsung’s entry into this market is anticipated to broaden consumer interest in health-centric wearables and potentially stimulate competition among tech giants. The release date and pricing details for the Galaxy Ring were not disclosed during the preview. Samsung also unveiled new AI-based sleep analysis features, including sleep apnea detection, for its smartwatches, and introduced the Vitality Score, a metric assessing users’ readiness for the day.
