Facebook and WhatsApp parent Meta plan to launch its long-awaited Twitter competition, a microblogging app, Threads.
The launch news comes days after the Twitter owner, Elon Musk, introduced new rate limits to the blue app which created a frenzy and confusion among its users.
Threads, Instagram’s text-based conversation app, is expected to launch on Thursday and will allow users to follow the accounts they follow on the photo-sharing platform and keep the same username, a listing on Apple’s App Store showed, according to Forbes.
The app will be available on Apple Apps Store and it is not clear yet if it will be available on Android and when it will be.
Threads will be directly linked to Meta’s popular photo-sharing platform Instagram and screenshots suggest users can keep their usernames and easily follow the same accounts they do on Instagram on the new platform.
