Social media applications continue to be extremely popular among South Africans, occupying the top ten most popular free apps for both Android and iOS users.
WhatsApp Messenger is the most popular free app on the Google Play Market and the third most popular app on the Apple App Store.
On both platforms, TikTok is the second most popular free App.
Facebook, Snapchat, Youtube, and Instagram are also among the top ten, with Facebook Lite (3) and Tiktok Lite (5) among the most popular apps on the Google Play Store.
With the unexpected spike in popularity of AI, Nova – an AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT & GPT-3.5 Turbo – is the most popular free App on the IOS App Store, with Android users coming in 11th.
Notwithstanding reservations about the adoption of Ai chatbots, banking and legal professionals believe the new technology has the potential to be a game changer.
