The American company Archimedes Defense, in partnership with Unplugged Performance, on the 16th of August revealed the Sting package, which is an upgrade of the Tesla Cybertruck design to enhance the functionality in extreme conditions and high-risk locations.
The truck comes in three Sting versions; the Sting Baja, Sting Protector, and Sting APC, and each with its own specific operations needed for both governmental and civilian use.
The Sting Baja has a specific design for off-grid applications and is equipped with the Up Invincible off-road package for improved performance on difficult terrain. A standout feature of this model is the AMP Drive G125, a multi-fuel capable, frunk-mounted 800V genset generator, that not only allows the Cybertruck to be supercharged at up to 125 kW. It can charge other vehicles such as NACS and non-NACS compatible through a charging cable with adapters.
The Sting Protector also has the Up Invincible off-road package. It has bolt-on and bolt-off external offset steel amor plating which can withstand 7.62 mm assault rifle bullets. This model is only meant for private individuals, corporate entities, and government agencies that need advanced security in locations that have potential threats. The Protector is available with and without the genset allowing flexibility based on specific operational needs.
The Sting APC provides protecting in high-risk environments, this includes IEDs and mines. Much like the Protector it has bolt-on and bolt-off external offset steel and ceramic armor designed to handle 14.5 mm heavy machine gun bullets. This model is much suited for military and defense usage, and the APC has options to include the genset for extended missions.
The Sting package includes wide changes to the design of the Cybertruck, where it has a thicker steel and ceramic armor layer, bigger off-road tyres, extra fog lamps, and two large antennas installed at the back. The reinforced doors cause a decrease in the size of the size of the windows, as the top back part of the vehicle is changed to look like an airport traffic control tower, showing its main purpose.
The AMP Drive G125 genset could be one achievement because a full battery charge could double the vehicles range of 402-547 km, which could reach 1,094 km. The extended range would likely surpass 757 km Tesla advertises for its Cybertruck range-extender battery option, making the G125 an addition for those seeking maximum driving distance.
