According to the company, Veeam Backup for AWS delivers AWS-native Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) backup and recovery that is both cost-effective and secure, available exclusively in AWS Marketplace in free, paid and bring your own license (BYOL) editions.
Veeam Backup for AWSis capable of being implemented as a standalone AWS backup and disaster recovery solution for AWS-to-AWS backup, or integrated with the Veeam Platform, delivering seamless cloud mobility and data portability for backup, recovery and migration to, from and within any environment – cloud, virtual or physical, the vendor stated.
“Veeam R&D efforts for future releases have always been built off of feedback from our strong user and partner community, and this latest release of Veeam Backup for AWS is no different,” said Danny Allan, CTO and senior vice president, Product Strategy at Veeam. “We continually remind our users and partners that it is the customer’s responsibility to make sure their data is protected and secure, whether it is stored on-premises or in the cloud – and even more so now when data holds more value than ever.”
Allan said in Q1 of 2020, Veeam had increased the data protected in Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) by more than 20 times year-over-year (YoY). “Our recent releases in AWS Marketplace, as well as our AWS Storage Competency achievement, not only strengthens our commitment to be a leader in cloud data management, but in further extending Veeam-powered data protection to AWS customers,” he said.
Veeam Backup for AWS has seen fast adoption among users looking to protect their workloads on AWS. The latest release of Veeam Backup for AWSincludes numerous enhancements and new capabilities most requested by customers and partners.
Christophe Bertrand, senior analyst, ESG, said: “ESG research highlights that protecting applications and data wherever they ‘live’ is a key business and IT mandate. With many mission-critical workloads and data sets now residing on hyperscale cloud platforms, organisations must take a close look at their data protection processes and solutions in those environments in order to ensure recovery SLAs are met across all platforms.”
Bertrand added that Veeam’s strategy to deliver holistic support is further confirmed with these newest capabilities for AWS which also represent a great opportunity for Veeam’s partner eco-system to provide a broader set of solutions to their customers.
Calvin Larsen, technology director at Neurobrands LLC explained that: “We moved our on-premises servers to AWS when COVID-19 started and have used Veeam for our backups in the past. We set our backups up in Veeam Backup for AWS in under an hour and were backed up shortly thereafter. Lots of options for backups, easy to setup and deploy. Highly recommended.”
