BUI, a renowned global technology consultancy and managed services provider specializing in cloud, security, and networking solutions for mid-market and enterprise businesses, has officially unveiled its state-of-the-art Cyber Security Operations Centre (Cyber SOC) in Nairobi, Kenya.
A Cyber SOC is a centralized hub designed to monitor, detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats in real-time. The opening of the Nairobi facility marks a significant achievement for BUI, as it becomes the company’s fourth Cyber SOC in Africa, joining successful operations already established in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Welkom, South Africa.
During the launch event on February 20, Hasmukh Chudasama, General Manager for East Africa at BUI, outlined the extensive planning and preparation that went into creating the new Cyber SOC. He highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening cybersecurity resilience across the region.
“Our Nairobi Cyber SOC goes beyond just advanced security solutions; it represents a strategic investment in local talent, skill development, and job creation. Kenya is poised to become a key player in cybersecurity, and we’re excited to foster partnerships with industry leaders while empowering the next generation of digital defenders,” Chudasama remarked.
Before the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the BUI Nairobi Cyber SOC, Ryan Roseveare, Global CEO of BUI, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the development of the facility.
“This new hub marks a pivotal step in our expansion into East Africa. We are committed to offering tailored, localized security solutions that provide our customers with comprehensive protection and peace of mind as they embrace our cutting-edge services,” Roseveare said.
The BUI Nairobi Cyber SOC integrates advanced tools like Microsoft Defender XDR, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Copilot, and custom solutions, which work alongside BUI’s SecOps team to deliver 24/7, holistic security for organizations of all sizes.
As cyber threats become more sophisticated and targeted, businesses are facing increasing challenges in protecting their digital assets. Many IT teams are grappling with skills shortages, rising technology costs, and increasingly complex digital environments. In this context, prioritizing cybersecurity has become crucial for both individuals and organizations, emphasized Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft Country Manager for Kenya, who was a special guest at the launch event.
“If you’re using technology, security must be the foundation. It starts with the individual – understanding the tools you’re using and how they interact with others is critical,” Migwi stated. “BUI’s role is vital in helping businesses navigate these security challenges.”
Rachael Ongalo, Head of IT at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, shared her organization’s experience with BUI’s cybersecurity services. “Partnering with BUI has been fantastic. The Cyber SOC has significantly improved our visibility, enabling us to detect and respond to threats more efficiently. This has greatly reduced risks for our organization,” Ongalo said.
