While the new products have been available in South Africa since the beginning of January, lastnight saw the official launch of the new Huawei nova13 and the impressive new MatePad model.
The big selling point for the nova 13 is its photographic capabilities and AI assisted editing features.
Huawei has positioned the product as the ultimate selfie camera. The nova 13 features a 60 MP Ultra-Wide Front Camera with a 100-degree field of view, ensuring everyone fits in group selfies without distortion.
The phone comes with an AI Best Expression feature that enables sophisticated photo editing by intelligently analysing multiple shots captured in a camera burst. The application then uses advanced algorithms, to identify the best expressions for each individual in the frame, ensuring smiles are perfect, eyes are open and everyone looks their best.
The result is a polished and natural final image that eliminates common issues such as awkward smiles or closed eyes, making it perfect for preserving memorable moments with family, friends or large groups.
It’s quite a remarkable feature and is like having a personal photo editor built right into your phone, delivering flawless photos effortlessly every time.
The other Key Feature – Exceptionally Fast Charging Time
The nova 13 also excels in terms of charging time, with the inclusion of the 100W HUAWEI SuperCharge Turbo feature, providing a 50% charge in just 10 minutes. Combined with a robust 5000mAh battery and intelligent AI Precision Temperature Control, users can enjoy long-lasting power and reliable safety, no matter how busy their day gets, leaving battery anxiety a thing of the past.
WhatsApp Caveat
No mention has been made of the issues with WhatsApp functioning with the new phone, but industry insiders say that this is an ongoing issue with all Chinese phones with the Google App store not available on Huawei phones. And while there is a workaround in place, there are users having major issues with the messaging app on their phones, with message cloning and app cloning, often losing data or users getting locked out of the app.
