The Jiinue app emerged victorious from the FNB Hackathon, South Africa’s largest of its kind. The 2024 event attracted over 1,500 registrations, 1,130 online participants, 161 teams, and 112 app submissions. Guided by 17 mentors, participants worked intensively over 72 hours to create innovative solutions addressing five pressing social issues:
- Bridging the digital divide in education
- Enhancing financial inclusion for small businesses
- Addressing unemployment through skills development
- Improving healthcare access in underserved communities
- Reducing food waste and improving food security.
Out of 112 submissions, rigorous judging identified Jiinue as a standout innovation, demonstrating the transformative potential of technology to tackle unemployment and create meaningful opportunities.
Focus on Employment Matching
Jiinue addresses unemployment by tackling the skills mismatch between job seekers and employers. The platform matches users to jobs based on their skillsets, crafts tailored CVs using AI, and plans to offer personalised courses for upskilling. By leveraging predictive analysis and tracking job trends, Jiinue aims to empower individuals and bridge the gap between talent and opportunity.
As technology continues to advance, the demand for app solutions globally grows exponentially. Solutions like Jiinue have the potential to be onboarded by partners within the FNB App of the Year ecosystem – connecting app developers to organisations looking for innovative and locally applicable tech solutions.
By recognising and empowering talented and up-and-coming app developers, FNB aims to create a thriving digital ecosystem that supports small businesses, promotes local innovation, and drives meaningful economic impact.
