The winners of the Inaugural Tech Innovation of the Year awards, have just been released.
With a focus on Tech Innovation and the promotion of the amazing innovations that the African continent is producing, Business Tech Africa has been enormously grateful to the companies that have shared their stories and their development journeys with us and our readers.
“I have the privilege of interacting with some pretty amazing people every day”, says Business Tech Africa’s Editor Greg Stewart. “I am always amazed, and incredibly proud of the innovators and their passion to drive changes and disrupt the business and social landscape”, he comments.

The entry criteria for the awards, for 2024 was that the innovation needed to have been published in an article in the Business Tech Africa digital publication within the year of the awards.
The panel of four judges scored the innovation based on its appeal, and what potential change to business or society and impact the innovation held, with the average score determining the category finalists and overall winner.
The 2024 African Tech Innovation of the Year Category Winners are:
Best Social Upliftment Tech Award – Awarded to a Tech development or innovation that improves or enhances society and provides a better environment or service for society

Employment Enhancement Tech – Awarded to the best innovation that improves or assist in the growth of employment in Africa

Best AI Tech Innovation – Awarded to the AI development that best advances AI adoption and innovation in Africa

Best Fintech innovation – Awarded to the most innovative Fintech product developed in Africa, that specifically resolves financial challenges on the continent

Overall Winner of the African Tech Innovation of the Year Award Goes to : Tipped.
Commenting on the winners and overall winner, Stewart states “the scoring was really tight and it was not easy to separate finalists in many categories”. “However, we do believe that each winner is deserving of the awards and the overall winner in particular had consensus across our judging panel that this is a remarkable initiative driven by a remarkable and determined woman who is making a big difference in the lives of so many individuals, while providing a much needed financial solution”.
