Huawei’s new tri-foldable, Mate XT smartphone, has been launched in China with social chatter abuzz with what Huawei fans believe to be a development in mobile tech that has overshadowed Apple’s new iPhone16 Launch.
The Mate XT, is the industry’s first tri-foldable phone, and the new advances in Ai powered smartphones are what industry experts believe will drive demand. The launch of the Mate XT follows Huawei’s dominance in the 5G premium smartphone market last year with the launch of its Mate 60 series and earlier in 2024 when it launched its high-end Pura series phones.
Both the Mate XT and iPhone 16 will go on sale on Sept. 20, though the Mate XT is expected to only be available in China at this stage and the iPhone 16 sold in China does not have Ai functionality due to Apple failing to find an Ai Tech partner in China yet.
. The Mate XT’s starting price of 19,999 yuan has caused some head shaking in China with a local poll indicating that only 10% of those polled would consider buying one at the hefty price tag of $3300. The iPhone 16 starts at a pricing of $999
