A first in Africa, Robot Café has recently introduced robotic servers that are creating quite a stir in the East African city of Nairobi. Located at Lana Plaza complex along Oloitoktok Road in Nairobi. Guests are greeted with a warm welcome and a digital smile.
The robotic servers have built-in serving trays ready to receive food from the kitchen staff and the Ai driven robots then use self-navigating technology, including Ai-powered obstacle avoidance technology tonavigate the restaurant to the designated table where customers receive their food orders.
The adoption of restaurant and other service related robotics is set to change the face of the food, hospitality and entertainment service industry but are at this point only doing basic functions such as delivering and collecting goods. This however is set to change as the robotic tech industry is undergoing rapid advances driven by Ai rapid learning functionality.
At the heart of this industry however is a very human core. The best service will still come from a human with a genuine human smile and voice. While there are certainly efficiencies to be gained with robotic servers, most people today are still likely to want to engage with another human in these settings.
The owners statement says a lot when they state that “At RobotCafe, we pride ourselves on providing an unparalleled dining experience. Our café is designed to captivate and engage, with sleek, futuristic interiors that transport you to the forefront of innovation. “While our technology sets us apart, our cuisine is what keeps our guests coming back”.
