Minister of Trade and Industry, Ebrahim Patel, says that the three-day African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) forum has not only created employment opportunities, but has also integrated young people into the economy.
Patel expresses his hope that a broader spectrum of African nations can reap the benefits of AGOA. He emphasizes the profound significance of the relationship between the African continent and the United States.
“AGOA represents a market access agreement with the US Congress, specifically designed for sub-Saharan nations, and we’ve witnessed that trade with the United States constitutes a substantial segment of our global trade. In South Africa, for instance, we’ve exported nearly R250 billion worth of goods to the US, including items such as automobiles, fruits, vegetables, agricultural products, and various other commodities.”
