The minister in the Presidency, Jackson Mthembu has died of Covid-19 related at the age of 62.
This comes after the Presidency confirmed last week that the minister tested positive after presenting with symptoms on Monday.
People who have been in contact with the minister are self-quarantining.
“He remains in high spirits and wishes all those who are also fighting the coronavirus a speedy recovery,” a statement issued by the Presidency read.
Jackson Mthembu was the Minister in the Presidency of South Africa’s government, and parliamentarian for the African National Congress. Previously, he served as the Whip of Parliament for the ruling ANC and as well as the national spokesperson for the ANC
