Great Wall Motor (GWM), has officially launched its GWM Tank 500 in South Africa, pushing the profile of this Chinese model to new heights.
GWM South Africa is introducing the all-new Tank 500 Hybrid SUV which comes with elegance, advanced technology, and off-road capabilities for drivers who are adventurous.
The Tank is a 3-rom SUV that measures up to 5,078 mm from the nose to tail, making it bigger than both the Ford Everest which is 4,940 mm and the Toyota Prado which measures at 4,925 mm. It also has a bigger length than the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 which is 5,005 mm. This 7-seater SUV is equipped with a touch of elegance and luxury to it including a tailgate-mounted spare, which is added to the measurements.
The Tank 500 has a wheelbase of 2850 mm, a width of 1,934 mm and is 1,905 mm tall. The ground clearance comes at 224 mm and a dual-powered SUV wading depth of 800 mm. The approach, breakover and departure angles are 30, 22.5 and 24 degrees and the braked towing has the capacity is 2,500 kg. The luggage capacity stands at 795 litres with the 3rd row seats laid down and the 1,459 litres with the 2nd and 3rd row both flat.
The inside of Tank 500 has a 14.6-inch multimedia screen display and gives an option of physical buttons and touch screen controls and added features of air conditioning, infotainment, and a drive mode selection. It also comes with a Nappa leather featuring an 8-massage function.
The Tank 500 is equipped with a 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a Drive-Injection and an advanced electric driving technology, providing 255 kW of power and a 648 N.m of torque. Regardless of the weight of 2,605kg, this SUV can pull up to 2.5 tonnes and can travel from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. The Tank 500 can take on any terrain with its 9-speed automatic transmission and 11 all-terrain driving modes such as Sports, Snow, Sand, Rock and Expert.
Other features include a 20-inch alloy wheel, automatic side steps, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 12-speaker infinity sound system, a head-up display, 360-degree camera and automatic intelligent parking. Safety functions are added by an intelligent adaptive cruise control, rear collision warning, cross traffic alert, emergency lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and full complement of airbags (front, front side, curtain and front centre).
The Tank 500 is available in four colours which is a Princess White, Knight Black, Majesty Silver and the unique Crown Gold.
GWM Tank 500 2.0T Ultra Luxury Hybrid 4×4 9AT will cost R1,222,900 which includes a 7-year/200,000 km warranty plus 8-year/150,000 km coverage for the hybrid battery, and a 5-year/75,000 km service plan.
