Ford is set to launch the new Ford Territory SUV locally in the second quarter of 2024 after a 15-year absence, as part of its major R5.2 billion South Africa investment.
The new SUV is expected to compete with models such as the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Nissan X-Trail, Toyota RAV4, and VW Tiguan to give you an idea of the price point the Territory will likely retail at.
Though details remain limited, Ford revealed the Territory will pack a 1.8L turbo petrol engine with 140kW and 320Nm, paired to a 7-speed auto. This powertrain matches the Latin American model for now.
Standard features span LED lighting, 18-inch alloys, a 12-inch touchscreen with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, and Ford’s Co-Pilot360 driver assistance tech. Upgrades like a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control and more features are on the way.

Measuring 4.6 meters long with a 448 litre trunk, the Territory promises one of the most spacious and advanced offerings in its segment when deliveries begin. Additional new Ford models bound for South Africa include the Ranger Tremor and Tourneo/Transit vans.
Pricing and final specifications will be announced closer to launch for the locally-produced SUV. But Ford sees the Territory launch as central to its R5.2 billion investment in domestic manufacturing and market expansion.
