WhatsApp is ensuring the user privacy with its latest beta for Android, version 2.24.17.24. This update introduces a new feature designed to manage messages from unknown accounts, which aims on reducing spam and protect users from harmful content.
WhatsApp has been lashed on the openness that allows anybody with a user’s cellphone number to send a message or even call them without a notice. With the introduction of the new feature, called Block Unknown Account Messages which is currently under testing, it could provide much better solutions.
WABetaInfo, a trusted source for WhatsApp news has found the upcoming block feature being tested on beta version 2.24.17.24 and is still in the development process.
How does the Block Feature work:
- Once the new block feature is available it will be found in the Privacy settings under the Advanced section.
- Users will be able to enable it by using a toggle button.
- WhatsApp suggests that enabling this feature may enhance the performance of the device, but the details of this enhancement are not clear yet.
- It is certain that the feature will enhance privacy by allowing the users to block messages from strangers automatically, especially if those messages pas a certain volume.
Although the new feature is currently not ready for public release, its presence in beta testing showcases that WhatsApp is actively enhancing the feature and preparing for its upcoming launch.
WhatsApp automatically mutes calls from unknown numbers as a standard feature. In addition to the new blocking feature, it also includes reporting options and methods to detect malicious accounts used for spamming. The main goal is to offer users a messaging experience without stress on the platform that is widely used.
Block messages from unfamiliar senders aims to maintain user privacy and ensure accurate operation on smartphones. This means that specific messages will still be received even if users enable the Block unknown account messages setting later on.
It is also safe to say that this is not the only feature Meta is working on for WhatsApp on Android. It was previously reported that the messaging platform is working on a new feature that will allow users to apply a custom chat theme for all conversations.
WhatsApp is trying to make sure that unknown number massages a thing of the past.
