Spotify is introducing a brand new feature called Song Psychic, extending its personalized data insights beyond the popular Wrapped year-end review. With Song Psychic, users are able to ask questions, similar to those directed at a psychic or Magic 8 Ball, and receive responses in the form of songs. To access the feature, users can visit spotify.com/songpsychic on their mobile devices or scan the QR code provided.
Upon entering the experience, users can choose from various categories such as School, Friends and Family, Love, Career, and more. Pre-populated questions are available for selection, or users can input their own inquiries. After entering a question, the app prompts users to press their finger on the screen, accompanied by mystical music and swirling colors, before revealing the answer through a song.
According to Tech Crunch, the responses, taken from specific keywords in song titles and questions, are presented entirely at random, emphasizing that personal data is not utilized for conclusions. The experience, designed for entertainment purposes, encourages users to share their responses on platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram Stories, Messenger, and more.
While the Song Psychic feature may have occasional navigation lags and minor glitches, it adds an entertaining element to the Spotify mobile app. Although not immediately accessible through the app hub, the feature is available to both free and Premium subscribers in 64 markets and 21 languages.
Song Psychic is part of Spotify’s ongoing initiatives to extend the celebratory spirit of Wrapped throughout the year. The platform has previously introduced surprise interactive experiences, such as “Playlist In a Bottle” and artist-specific encounters with Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, ROSALÍA, BTS, and Taylor Swift.
