As the world moves into the 4th industrial revolution, where digitization is key moving to a paperless environment is essential for organizations.
The Gauteng Department of e-Government, Research, and Development, as the primary drive behind the digital transformation in Gauteng province, is paying its efforts on digitizing Gauteng government services in order to achieve a paperless service environment.
The ‘Gauteng Digital Platform’ Website
The department launched a new ‘Gauteng Digital Platform’ website to serve as a centralized hub for all Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) services.
The website and smartphone App offers various government services such as applying for vehicle licenses, applying for GPG vacancies, e-learning for those in school, and many others.
Gauteng Professional Job Centre
One of the popular e-services that be accessed through the Gauteng Digital Platform is the Gauteng Professional Job Centre ( e-Recruitment).
e-Recruitment is an online job portal that the government uses to advertise its available job vacancies.
Head of Department Cyril Baloyi, stated, “Our main goal is to make government available anytime, anywhere, and on any device. We want to provide government services in a modernized way through digital platforms to create universal access for citizens, businesses, and employees.
With our online gateway and digital mediums, we aspire for citizens to obtain information, submit documents, and complete transactions from afar, negating the requirement for in-person visits and paper processes,” said Baloyi.
The department is working on improving the website to include more exciting features for its platform users.
The features include 15 more e-services for the digital platform, including Online IDP Assessments, Fleet Management, and Athletics Management. The Gauteng Digital Platform app can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.
