Impala Rustenburg is presently hosting its annual Career Expo, providing a valuable platform for Grade 11 students from local mining communities to explore career opportunities and gain insights into the industry. Running from 4 August to 1 September, the Expo is providing local learners with valuable tools and knowledge to help them succeed in their future careers while exposing them to new opportunities they may not have previously considered. This year’s event is offering an immersive, technology-driven experience, featuring popular virtual reality tours alongside inspiring videos that showcase diverse career journeys and professions.
Expanding Reach and Impact
Since its inception in 2021, the Impala Rustenburg Career Expo has established itself as a pivotal component of the company’s youth development initiatives, consistently expanding its reach and impact. This Expo welcomes four new schools this year Waterkloof Hills Secondary, Khayalethu High, Itumeleng High, and Tswaidi High, bringing the total number of schools to 18. To date, the Expo has engaged over 11,000 students from Grades 9 to 12 across 14 schools within the mining communities. By broadening its scope, Impala demonstrates its commitment to fostering youth development.

We are not only providing career guidance through this Expo but also running a wide range of youth development programmes. These initiatives are giving young people practical experience, technical skills, and opportunities for personal growth. Our cadet programme, graduate internships, bursaries, and learnerships are equipping youth with the skills they need to thrive both within the mining sector and beyond.”
Showcasing Diverse Career Opportunities
In addition to highlighting careers directly related to mining, the Expo is introducing students to a broad spectrum of supporting professions essential to the industry’s success. These include roles in environmental management, safety, human resources, finance, information and communications technology, and education. The Expo is also showcasing Impala’s youth development programmes, including bursaries that provide financial support for tertiary education, graduate internships offering valuable work experience, learnerships that combine industry-specific skills training with stipends, and the cadet programme, which delivers hands-on mining training.
