South African fintech company Happy Pay has teamed up with Edgars to introduce its buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) service to customers shopping online with the popular retailer.
For over 80 years, Edgars has been a staple in South African homes, offering a diverse selection of fashion, beauty, and homeware products. With a reputation for delivering both quality and style, Edgars continues to cater to a wide customer base, from classic favourites to the latest trends. Now, thanks to its collaboration with Happy Pay, Edgars customers can enjoy the convenience of splitting their purchases across two paycheques, entirely interest-free.
“Edgars has been a household name for decades, known for its reliability and range,” commented Happy Pay. “Now, customers can shop their favourite items and pay more flexibly with our BNPL service.”
Edgars joins a growing roster of retail partners that have embraced Happy Pay’s BNPL solution. This list includes well-known brands such as HiFi Corp, Incredible Connection, Hertex, Boardmans, WeFix, Cellucity, Dermalogica, HP Store, and Freedom of Movement.
According to Patrick Postrehovsky, Co-Founder and COO of Happy Pay, the partnership benefits both consumers and retailers alike. “Retailers choose to collaborate with Happy Pay because it drives higher customer traffic, increases average basket sizes, and improves conversion rates.”
The partnership with Edgars comes on the heels of Happy Pay’s successful pre-seed funding round, which secured $1.8 million (R32 million) from several venture capital firms, including co-lead investors E4E Africa and 4Di Capital.
Wesley Billett, Co-Founder and CEO of Happy Pay, revealed that the funds will be used to accelerate the company’s expansion and diversify its offerings. As BNPL continues to grow in popularity, particularly among Millennials and Gen Z consumers, Happy Pay aims to tap into this demand by launching new fintech solutions alongside its BNPL services.
“As South Africa’s only independent BNPL provider, our mission is to offer solutions that comply with regulatory standards while maintaining ease of use for both retailers and customers,” added Happy Pay.
