Construction of the highly anticipated Club Med South Africa beach resort is well underway, with progress moving smoothly since breaking ground in March 2024. The resort is set to open its doors in July 2026, promising a world-class, all-inclusive vacation experience on the scenic north coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
A development spokesperson confirmed to BusinessTech that over 1,000 workers are actively engaged on-site daily, ensuring the project stays on schedule for completion ahead of its grand opening. This milestone marks a significant boost to the local economy, generating employment opportunities and driving investment in the region.
Although the resort’s grand opening is slated for mid-2026, global reservations will become available between June and July 2025. Upon launch, the resort expects to accommodate approximately 400 international guests weekly, with a strong influx from France and Belgium.
A Premier Coastal Destination
Developed as a partnership between Club Med and the Collins Residential Consortium, the new resort will offer a blend of luxury and adventure. The R2 billion development is located in Tinley Manor, near Ballito, and is bordered by expansive wildlife reserves, presenting a unique combination of beachside relaxation and nature exploration.
The resort will feature a range of accommodations, including a hotel, luxury villas, and conference facilities, catering to both international tourists and South African travellers. Chris du Toit, director of Collins Residential, highlighted that the collaboration with Club Med began in 2018 with the vision of bringing a world-class holiday destination to the country.
Unmatched All-Inclusive Experience
Club Med South Africa will provide an all-inclusive package covering premium accommodations, gourmet dining, open bars, and an extensive selection of land and water activities. A key highlight is the dedicated kids’ club, designed to cater to children as young as four months old, with certified staff ensuring a fun and safe environment.
For adventure seekers, the resort will offer an array of sports facilities, including sailing, surfing, diving, snorkeling, padel tennis, beach rugby, beach volleyball, archery, and a surf school. Additionally, wellness enthusiasts can indulge in the spa, yoga school, fitness centre with daily classes, and the tranquil adult-only Zen pool.
Guests will also have access to a high-end shopping and dining experience at the Resort Centre, which features a restaurant, bar, and wine corner, bringing gourmet flavours to the heart of the resort.
A Unique Bush and Beach Experience
Enhancing the Club Med offering, the resort will introduce the Safari Lodge, situated within a Big Five game reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal. This 80-room lodge will adhere to Club Med’s standards, providing guests with the exclusive opportunity to enjoy both coastal and wildlife experiences in one trip.
Recognized as a Catalytic Project for KwaZulu-Natal’s tourism sector, the Club Med South Africa Beach and Safari Resort is expected to set new benchmarks in luxury travel, drawing visitors from across the globe.
Exclusive Club Med Villa-Suites Now Available for Investment
In late 2024, Collins Residential unveiled a rare investment opportunity with the launch of 66 Villa-Suites within the Exclusive Collection of the resort. These suites are available for purchase on a sectional title basis, open to both South African and international buyers. Owners will also benefit from a profit-sharing model linked to the resort’s hotel operations.
Investment options include:
- 2-sleeper unit – Priced at R5.95 million
- 4-sleeper unit – Priced at R8.95 million
“This project is a ground-breaking addition to Club Med’s global portfolio, offering an unprecedented mix of a bush retreat and a surf school,” said the company.
With construction progressing steadily, the Club Med South Africa Beach and Safari Resort is poised to become a premier destination, combining the beauty of the African wilderness with the luxury of an all-inclusive seaside escape.
