AUTO24 Rwanda, a well-known local car dealership, has taken a significant step by making Tesla vehicles available in Rwanda.
This decision follows a campaign initiated by the dealership in late 2023, encouraging customers to transition from traditional gasoline-powered vehicles to new electric ones, thereby promoting electric mobility.
The official unveiling of the first two Tesla Model Y vehicles took place on Friday, March 22.
Ivan Ruzibiza, AUTO24 Rwanda’s Country Manager, expressed the dealership’s commitment to embracing e-mobility, highlighting its importance for the future of transportation. He also acknowledged the government’s efforts to promote electric vehicle usage and attract investments in this sector.
Ruzibiza stated, “Since its launch in 2019, the Tesla Model Y has rapidly gained popularity in the electric vehicle market. It offers impressive features such as a long driving range, cost-effectiveness, and spacious interiors accommodating up to seven passengers with additional configurations.”
He further noted the Model Y’s global success, with Tesla achieving a significant milestone in 2023 by delivering 1.2 million units, making it the world’s top-selling vehicle for that year. This achievement underscores the growing demand for electric vehicles worldwide.
Ruzibiza emphasized the numerous benefits of electric vehicles, including efficient energy consumption, lower maintenance costs, and superior performance compared to traditional vehicles. He highlighted the importance of transitioning to electric vehicles to promote a greener environment and enhance the country’s carbon credits.
Interested buyers are encouraged to visit AUTO24 Rwanda’s offices for tours and test drives of Tesla models. The dealership aims to offer a diverse range of 100-150 electric vehicle models to meet the needs and budgets of Rwandans.
Ernest Bugingo, the Automotive Commercial Director at AUTO24 Rwanda, emphasized the global shift towards electric vehicles driven by environmental concerns and technological advancements. He praised the Tesla Model Y’s revolutionary features and predicted its dominance in the market.
Bugingo highlighted the Model Y’s appeal to a wide audience, thanks to its SUV design and shared components with the popular Model 3.
The 2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range is priced at $58,000 (approximately Rwf74.1 million) at AUTO24 Rwanda. This cost may vary based on customer preferences and additional features.
Standard features of the Model Y include LED headlights, a 15-inch touchscreen with navigation and Bluetooth capabilities, luxurious interior amenities, and advanced safety features.
With a powerful battery enabling a range of 660km on a single charge and impressive acceleration capabilities, the Tesla Model Y offers a compelling option for customers seeking eco-friendly and high-performance vehicles in Rwanda.
